Silke Schelenz of Suffolk Open Studios updates on this year’s plans.

Having been grounded for a year due to COVID, Suffolk Open Studios (SOS) returns and is launching its first online spring exhibition.

The 2021 programme runs over five weekends in June, commencing Saturday 5th June, with over 100 artists taking part as well as several galleries.

Ahead of the summer event we are excited to be running an online Spring Exhibition (9th April-7th May) with SOS members providing a showcase example of their work, many of which are for sale. A private view is being held on Friday 9th April 2021 and invitations can be obtained via the SOS website

It has been such a hard time for everybody but many of our artists have continued to produce artwork during the long lockdowns and are now looking forward to opening their studios again.

Every weekend in June, artists will be opening their studios to the public to showcase their talents. All studios are open 11am-5pm, entry is free, and we are committed in providing a COVID risk assessed environment. With artists’ work ranging from ceramics, glass, jewellery, woodwork, original prints, paintings and more, visitors have the unique opportunity to watch artists at work and quiz them about their practice.

Another first for this year is a special SOS Open Studios App that can be downloaded on your phone and helps visitors to navigate their way to find open days and the location of artists and galleries.   There will also be a complementary paper map available.
